Economic Recovery Team Leader in Tindouf: Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Economic Recovery Team Leader to join our team in Algeria.

Under the direct supervision and guidance of DRC Base Manager, the Economic Recovery Team Leader is responsible for managing the economic recovery team and planning, supervising, and implementing DRC Economic Recovery project activities in the Saharawi Response in Algeria, in adherence with DRC and donor guidelines and standards. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Managing five Economic Recovery assistants, supervise one officer and coordinate the economic recovery team and deliver the necessary support and guidance.
- Plan and implement Economic Recovery activities with the guidance of the Base Manager throughout the project cycle: planning, life skills trainings, business management trainings, design of business plans and provision of grants for small businesses, etc
- Plan, supervise and ensure quality and timely implementation of economic recovery project activities in the field.
- Coordinate and lead needs’ assessment, market studies, baseline/endline evaluations and other quantitative/qualitative research tasks (including data collection and analysis), in coordination with and as agreed with the Base Manager for the Saharawi Response.
- Undertake field monitoring visits to monitor project implementation and support the economic recovery project team in resolving issues, provide solutions and implement modifications as required.
- Participate in the identification and selection of youth beneficiaries for the programme.
- Ensure compliance with DRC’s programmatic procedures and standards, as per DRC’s programme and operations handbooks and data protection policies.
- Serve as the main focal person for Sahrawi communities and local and regional authorities, in coordination with the Base Manager.
- Develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DRC’s sector activities.
- Ensure a high level of coordination with internal stakeholders, including DRC Programme, Procurement, and Finance departments.
- Contribute to the effective implementation of all operational support activities, including those related to administration, finance, and supply chain, to ensure smooth and timely project implementation in coordination with the economic recovery project manager.
- In all matters, comply with internal directives and policies, as communicated by the Base Manager and the relevant support departments.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports according to DRC reporting system and according to the Base manager’s instructions.
- Assist the base manager to produce comprehensive, quality and timely reports for donors, humanitarian partners and authorities.
- Provide weekly/monthly project briefings to the economic recovery team and base manager for Saharawi Response.
About you
- To be successful in this role we expect you to have an indispensable prior experience working in the Saharawi Refugees camps area in Algeria. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- At least 4 years’ experience in economic recovery projects or relevant fields.
- At least 4 years of practical experience in project implementation and project monitoring with LNGOs, Associations, INGOs, UN, donors.
- At least 4 years’ experience in managing teams.
- Masters/Bachelor degree / Diploma in economics, business management, community development, social science, or other subject relevant to the project.
- Solid networks in the Saharawi refugee camps.
- Good communication and facilitation skills.
- Strong IT skills will be an advantage.
- Arabic / Hassanya (Proficient)
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
Desirable
- Experience working with youth (in activism, advocacy, associations, etc.) will be an advantage.
- Spanish and French are an advantage
